nail polish remover cleaning violin strings?
is that okay? does it make it clean or worse? will it make the sound better? does it harm anything? should i do that? please tell me. :] thank you! all answers appreciated. [[except jokes]]
No: don't use that. You should use the following:
Fiddlebrite

Don't use nailpolish anywhere near the violin!!! It'll strip the wood, and is not intended for violin strings.
You can use (if you must) rubbing alcohol, but only a tiny, tiny amount, and only if you put several layers of clean, dry cloth between the strings and the wood of the fingerboard and violin. Careful!!
